I have a lot to share in this email so please hang in there. (-:
We are still just starting out
I want to remind everyone that we are JUST starting back up. I think we are on what our 8th practice back after being “dark” for over a year. We are making great progress. I know it is summer and people, including myself are traveling, it’s f*{f97fbbe8e2c55d6660ba85bf4833704f7c689de6793fb36dd007929dab8a50a9}king HOT, etc. I just want to encourage you that coming to practice as regularly as you can is SO important and helpful(-:
Lets talk Rehearsals
So part of whats so GREAT about this choir (which we have modeled after the Sonoma Choir) is that we rehearse TOGETHER for ONLY an hour and 15 minutes a week. That is NOT much time and it is intentional. Professional choirs and college choirs often have rehearsals that are hours long. This is NOT ideal for our choir and the way the Sonoma Director hard envisioned. The idea is that YOU do the bulk of the learning at home, on your time. Then we can come together and “Tweak” things inna much smaller amount of time (-:
That being said, It is SUPER important that we begin on time…at 7:00 or as close to it as possible. I know that we all want to visit. We all LIKE each other!! What a concept! People like hanging out and visiting…who knew…
SO, I’m gonna begin opening the doors early…6:45. I will have the “libations” out (please be minimal) and I welcome people who want to come in a bit early and visit.
SHEET MUSIC
Again, we model our choir after the Sonoma choir and they DO NOT use sheet music at all. Because Nate and I have been working together and because he is the band director, he has created a few charts. You are welcome to download those from the website, if you READ MUSIC. If you don’t Im not sure the sheet music will help you. The BEST way to rehearse id to listen to your part and follow along with the lyrics!! If you have any questions or concerns about this, please talk to me (-:
CD’s
ALL the music you need is on the website! It should be pretty simple to download. ONLY in VERY rare instances will I burn CD’s. It takes me a lot of time.
